  • Description

"The bumper book of circuits for radio amateurs"

By John Fielding, ZS5JF

This is the book that all keen home constructors have been waiting for! Circuit Overload includes 128 circuit diagrams, complemented by an additional 89 other diagrams, graphs and photographs and is a unique source of ideas for almost any circuit the radio amateur might want.

Circuits are provided that cover wide range of topics. Chapters have been devoted to audio, metering & display, power supplies, test equipment and antennas. Chapters have also been included that cover the design of low-pass, high-pass and band-pass filters. Nor are valves forgotten with, two chapters of Circuit Overload devoted to this fascinating topic.

Circuits include a two-tone oscillator for correctly setting up SSB transmitters, a temperature controlled crystal oven, a speech clipper, a solar panel battery charger, a simple intercom system, an RF 'sniffer' device, a product detector for an SSB / CW receiver, a Morse code oscillator, a phase modulator for an FM transmitter, a novel idea for an 'el cheapo' signal generator, a Noise Figure meter, a nicad battery charger and cell rejuvenator, a mains frequency monitor, an inrush current limiter, a high-power PIN diode antenna switch, crystal oscillators, an audio notch filter, audio amplifiers, 455kHz, 10.7MHz and 21.4MHz markers, a variable voltage bench power supply unit, a very low power transmitter for 1.3GHz to assist in aligning a 23cm converter, and much, much more.

Throughout the book, circuits are presented in an easy to understand fashion and many can be inter-connected to make a more complex item if so desired by the reader. If you are interested in home construction this book provides simple circuits and advice for the beginner with more complex circuits for the more experienced.
