As announced in RadCom the RSGB, this year we are holding a special Buildathon at the National Hamfest on the 27-28 September 2019 and this year it is sponsored by the National Hamfest Organisers. This activity is specifically aimed at the less experienced and is intended to encourage new people to come to the Hamfest and enjoy what the hobby has to offer. Space is strictly limited and whilst age is no barrier becoming involved, preference will be shown to younger participants should there be a shortage of places at the event. For this reason you will be asked to confirm the name, callsign (if any) and date of birth of the individual taking part in the Buildathon on the booking page.

The activity will involve building a voice recorder. All equipment needed for the build will be available and there will be plenty of help on hand to guide people through the build. Building kits is for many a satisfying and a great encouragement to take on more - so why not come (or bring someone) along to try it?

There is a nominal charge made to those who wish to patriate of £5.00 which will be refunded in the form of an RSGB book voucher should you successfully complete the project on the day. In the event of no-show we are unable to refund the price of the ticket. No tickets will be issued for the event but you will need to bring along your email receipt that this site generates as your proof of booking. This is also acts a free admission to the Hamfest courtesy of the National Hamfest organisers.

The Buildathon will be run both days of the National Hamfest and you are asked to select your preference. If your preference or place is not available we will advise this in a timely manner and where appropriate issue a prompt refund.

The National Hamfest is held at the Newark Showground, Lincoln Road, Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire NG24 2NY. Doors open at 10am and close at 4pm on both days.
