Duties and VAT

Duties and VAT

Books do not attract UK VAT but some products we sell do attract VAT and this is displayed next to the product pricing.

When an items attracts VAT so does the carriage charge. Any VAT is applied in proportion to the value of any VAT bearing products against the entire order value. When calculating 'Free' postage the calculation is made against the ex-vat price.

Some items such as logbooks are not regarded as books for UK VAT purposes and are therefore not usually included in book promotions or similar for tax reasons.

European Union (EU) Deliveries: In accordance with EU VAT rules, orders are supplied with the correct VAT for that EU counrty already paid. There should be no need to pay any further VAT or duties on delivery in any EU country.

Duties and VAT rules for other overseas destinations vary significantly, so all our orders sent to non-UK and EU destinations are sent DDU (Delivered Duties Unpaid). If any taxes or duties are payable in your jurisdiction then these will need to be paid by the customer along with any charges made by the carrier. The RSGB is not an expert in taxation rates but will be happy to help should you need to clarify these issues. Please contact our sales department for more information.

Unless otherwise described all items are in stock or expected to arrive in stock within 28 days as a maximum. Our current service commitment is that from an order being placed, goods will be processed and despatched within three working days by either carrier or second class post. This delivery commitment is subject to stock availability and exceptional circumstances beyond our control. Goods will still be despatched using the quicker service once the stock arrives unless you advise otherwise.

Deliveries outside the UK: The RSGB delivers books worldwide and we have no restrictions on any destination. Local rules on receiving books from the UK may apply but these are not within the control of the RSGB or something we can advise on.

Europe deliveries can take around 14-21 working days from date of posting. Deliveries to the rest of the World are sent by surface mail can take around 2-5 weeks to arrive, although at busy times and some Far East destinations, deliveries can take up to 12 weeks to arrive. Not all products are available for overseas delivery, for a variety of reasons. Where this is an issue this will be shown in the product description.

The RSGB will endeavour to ensure all orders that are placed with us prior to Christmas will arrive before the 25th December. However different "last posting dates" apply according to where you live. The dates are as follows:

UK deliveries - 19 December (10am)

Western Europe (Surface)- 17 November
Western Europe (Air) - 17 December
Eastern Europe inc Grecce, Cyprus etc (Surface) - 3 November
Eastern Europe inc Grecce, Cyprus etc (Air) 7 December
North America (Surface) - 13 October
North America (Air) - 14 December

Rest of World (Air) - 3 December

NOTE - It is probable that surface deliveries sent after the last posting date will arrive in time for Christmas however this can in no way be guaranteed. The similar situation applies to air deliveries but in general late posted items by air are less likely to arrive before Christmas. Discount Vouchers

Discount Vouchers

The RSGB Bookshop does not accept book vouchers other than those issued by RSGB. This is due to the high administration costs involved with some other book vouchers.

RSGB Membership Discount Vouchers: These are offered by the RSGB subject to certain conditions. Vouchers may only be valid for the named individual, the period stated and for the purchase of books, merchandise and CDs. Membership, postage and some special offers are not discountable and vouchers used against these won't be honoured. If stated some vouchers may only redeemed against specific books/products or ranges of books/products. If the voucher is redeemed online it must be sent to the RSGB marked with the appropriate order number and the date redeemed (a prepaid envelope will be provded on request). Vouchers may not be remeeded in conjunction with any other offer and may have a minimum spend requirement. Other conditions may apply and these will stated on the ticket or can be provided on request.

RSGB Bookshop Gift Vouchers: These items are available to purchase from the RSGB bookshop. These voucher have no specific expiry date and may be used against any purchase from the shop with the exception of postage charges. These vouchers are only redemable at the RSGB bookshop and no change is given. Unfortunately unless specifically stated otherwise we do not accept any form of voucher payment against RSGB membership fees.

The RSGB will not accept any responsibility for vouchers lost in the post and recommends that posting of vouchers is done by recorded delivery.

Return Policy

Return Policy

In the unlikely event of needing to return goods to the RSGB because they are faulty or damaged (except where this was stated in the description) please contact our sales department, who will arrange a replacement or refund as appropriate. In the event that an incorrect item has been sent due to an RSGB error, we will send out a special pre-paid return label to cover the return postage, again please contact our sales department for this. We cannot accept claims for return postage that we have not been previously notified of or have been returned without using our return labels.

In the event that the customer deems the goods to be unsatisfactory they may be returned at the customer's own expense for a refund. Refunds will include the cost of outward postage or the appropriate proportion thereof. You may note that returns from orders in excess of two books will be deemed not to include a credit for postage except where the entire order is returned (UK only). Credits for returns of unsatisfactory items are only issued if the goods arrive back at the RSGB in a re-saleable condition and cannot be deemed as used. It is also the customer's responsibility to ensure the arrival of unsatisfactory goods and no claims will be honoured for "lost in the post" items.

All claims for returns and refunds must be made within 14 days of receipt regardless of cause.

This policy applies to both private and trade sales but is strictly for the UK only and overseas clients will need to contact the RSGB for details of our overseas policies.

Trade Returns:

All conditions of return apply equally to trade returns with the following exceptions. Returns may be made up to six months after the date of supply. After six months all sales are firm and no returns will be accepted. Unfortunately dated products such as the RSGB Yearbook, Deluxe Logbook, etc. cannot be returned, except in cases of faulty or damaged on arrival.

The RSGB sales department can be contacted by e-mail at sales@rsgb.org.uk or on 01234 832700 8.30am - 1.00pm Mon to Fri.

Personalised Products

Personalised Products

Where a product is personalised to your specific requirements i.e. by having your callsign added to a badge, this becomes exempt from distance selling regulations. You will therefore be unable to return the item as unsatisfactory unless the item is faulty or damaged. We urge you to be very careful when entering details as we cannot be held responsible for any errors or omissions made by you at any stage in the order process. Orders once are placed may not be cancelled without incurring the full cost of the order. Where a genuine error has been made we will endeavour to cancel orders with our suppliers but there is no guarantee we will be able to do so. If we are unable to cancel orders in such circumstances you will still be liable for the full costs.

You may also note that personalised products may take some time to produce and are NOT shown on your regular invoice as they are processed from a different 'depot'. Please do not 'chase' personalised products until the time for delivery quoted on the product has elapsed.

We accept all major credit and debit cards, except non Euro specific cards such as Discover etc. Please note not all overseas credit cards will accept charges from the UK, if this is the case, we ask that you ensure you have advised your card company of the transaction which will enable us to process your order.

Our telephone number for credit card orders is +44 (0) 1234 832700

Charging and Errors

Charging and Errors

This site actively takes payement at the time the order is placed. If errors are found at time of processing we reserve the right to reject and credit the order, or amend and partially credit the order in order to correct these. We will try to contact customers to advise of changes but in the event we are unable to do so, the adjustement may be carried out without direct consent, which may result in a higher fee than is detailed in the order placed.

In cases where the customer has made an error the RSGB reserves the right to make a £10 administration charge when making refunds to cover administration costs. This is only applied in cases of error and does not affect your distance selling rights. This specifically covers Membership, QSL bureau services, etc. where payments are made in advance but is also occasionally applied in other circumstances too.

Renewals

Renewals

The RSGB reserves the right to reject membership renewals transacted on this website. A rejection will result in us refunding monies in full but this may be subject to an administration fee depending on the reason for the rejection.

Please note this rejection will be the case if you do not select the renewal rate quoted on your membership renewal letter or email. Some of the rates shown for renewals are either closed categories or rates that require special conditions to be met. To find out more about these rates please contact membership@rsgb.org.uk. All renewal prices are subject to change. E&OE.

Cancellation

Cancellation

Customers may cancel orders prior to despatch by contacting sales@rsgb.org.uk or telephoning +44 (0)1234 832700 during office hours (8.30-4.30 Mon-Fri). Please note that transactions are automatically processed through our systems, so cancellations may involve a credit/debit card refund and these may take a few days to complete through the banking system. In the event that an order has already left us (usually within 2 working days) cancellation is not possible and we need to refer you to our returns policy.

Customers setting up direct debit payments or other payments for a future date have the right to cancel prior to payment being taken, subject to the product involved. This should be done in writing (email) to the RSGB sales department at least 14 days before the payment is due. In cases where cancellation is made after payments have been taken by direct debit we reserve the right to deduct proportions of the fee for the period of time that has elapsed and our administration charge noted above.
