Emerging Technologies
This chapter is to highlight technologies that are still forming and gaining acceptance within the amateur radio hobby. Some operators will grab these possibilities and run with them, bearing all the pain of failures along the way as a learning experience. Other amateurs will avoid the technologies until they are well-formed and embedded in the hobby. Either way, all of us need to know that they are coming, and to that end, I have asked leaders in these fields to give a high-level introduction so that all readers go away with a basic knowledge of what is coming over the next few years or indeed is already forming part of our great hobby.
